UNIVISION COMMUNICATIONS NAMED CONTINENCE CARE CHAMPION
October 23, 2009 CHARLESTON, SC—The National Association For Continence (NAFC) awarded Univision Communications Inc., the premier Spanish-language media company in the United States, with the Rodney Appell Continence Care Champion Award. The award was presented by G. Willy Davila, MD, Chairman of the Board of NAFC.
Jorge Daboub, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development, accepted the award on Univision’s behalf at a reception co-hosted by NAFC and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Women’s Center of Excellence and Department of Urology. Guests represented leaders across the wide spectrum of multidisciplinary healthcare providers with expertise in continence care and research, as well as leaders in industry. Sponsors of the event included the American Urogynecologic Society, the Society of Female Urology & Urodynamics, the Society of Urologic Nurses & Associates, and the Women’s Health Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. The backdrop for the Celebration of Leadership in Continence Care Reception held in San Francisco, CA at the Palace Hotel was the annual scientific meeting of International Continence Society being held this year in the U.S.
Dr. Davila, chairman of the Department of Gynecology and Head of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida in Weston, Florida and chairman of the Board of NAFC, commented as he made the award presentation, “Symptoms of incontinence and pelvic floor disorders do not discriminate. With the generosity and leadership of Univision, NAFC has made great progress in serving one of the most underserved communities in this country, the Latinas and Latinos.”
