January 29, 2007 (Charleston, SC) — The National Association For Continence (NAFC) bestowed its most recent Continence Care Champion award to Paul Taylor, PA-C, member, Chairman of Corporate Relations, and member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Physicians in Obstetrics and Gynecology (APAOG).

January 29, 2007 (Charleston, SC) — The National Association For Continence (NAFC) bestowed its most recent Continence Care Champion award to Paul Taylor, PA-C, member, Chairman of Corporate Relations, and member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Physicians in Obstetrics and Gynecology (APAOG). During APAOG’s annual scientific conference on Saturday, January 27, Niall Galloway, MD, presented Mr. Taylor with this accolade. The award is sponsored by Pfizer, maker of Detrol® LA prescribed for treating overactive bladder.

The APAOG Board of Directors nominated members of the association who excel

The SUNA Board of Directors nominated members of its society who maintain a history of participation in cutting edge nursing research, practice development and education focusing on incontinence.  Thereafter, a committee comprised of members of the NAFC Board of Directors selects one recipient. Ms. LeCroy is the sixth SUNA member to receive the NAFC CCC award.

Nancy Muller, NAFC executive director, stated in her presentation remarks, “Ms. LeCroy has worked in urology for fifteen years and specialized in continence care and urodynamics since 1994. In that time, she has repeatedly challenged previous practices to improve standards.” Ms. LeCroy is an expert who naturally guides her peers with her dedication and upbeat personality.  

Ms. LeCroy holds a Masters of Science degree in Nursing from Old Dominion University and serves as the clinical coordinator at the Virginia Women’s Center in Richmond, VA. She is the immediate past national chairperson of SUNA’s annual symposium, Disorders of the Bladder, Bowel and Pelvic Floor and serves on the Project Advisory Council for NAFC. SUNA President, Saundra Seidel, APRN-BC CNOR CUCNS, shares her gratitude for Ms. LeCroy by stating that “[Ms. LeCroy] is linked to advancement. She actively promotes the enhancement of urinary incontinence (UI) treatments which is obvious in her daily practices.” Ms. LeCroy is known to speak publicly about UI on local, national and international levels and has published articles on UI and sexual dysfunction. She is a distinguished faculty member of the Collaborative for Education on Urinary Incontinence and Women’s Health, an organization of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists, and registered nurses committed to developing their UI diagnostic and treatment skills and integrating these skills into clinical practice.

Though this particular award focuses on a prominent member of APAOG, other medical organizations are involved in NAFC’s CCC award program as well. These groups include: American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS), Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), Society of Women in Urology (SWIU), Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), American Geriatrics Society (AGS), American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH), Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates (SUNA), and the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN).

About the Association of Physicians Assistants of Obstetrics and Gynecology (APAOG)

The Association of Physicians Assistants of Obstetrics and Gynecology is a professional organization dedicated to improving the healthcare of women by supporting physician/PA teams who provide cost effective, quality care to female patients and by promoting a network of communication and education between providers dedicated to women's health.
