Topic: The best Urologists

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone knows or could recommend a REALLY good urology doctor/clinic/whatever.  For example, does anyone here attend the MAYO clinic?  I've heard they're a leading edge clinic for urology.  But I want to hear from the "front lines".  I'm considering going to the US to find answers to my condition.  Any advice/leads would be helpful.

Cheers.

Re: The best Urologists

Hi, I've had 3 urologists. The Dr that has given me the most hope, took the time to answer all of my questions and didn't make me feel rushed when I had an appointment is at Johns Hopkins Bayview medical Center. The Dr's name is James Wright. The hospital is located in Baltimore, Maryland.

I've seen Dr Wright 3 times in the past year and am returning in 6 months to discuss a procedure. I knew I had the right Dr on my first appointment. I had a laundry list of questions. After about 10 minutes I said to him, " I have a lot of questions but I don't want to take up too much of your time."  His response was "I'm not in a hurry take as much time as you need"

Every appointment I've had I feel he's answered all of my questions and tells me what he's going to do next visit and what I could expect.

U.S. News and World Report just rated the top United States Hospitals. Johns Hopkins Urology department was rated #1.

Good Luck.        Ben

I would recommend Dr Zorn in Clinton Maryland near Washington DC

Re: The best Urologists

Hi Ben (and are you Ben from the old forum by any chance?  You gave me lots of great advice then)

Thanks so much.  It seems like your doctor also has an interest in female urology, which is good for me.  I will touch base with the hospital and find out what it would take to get a consult with him.  He sounds good.  My biggest frustration with my doctors is that they always seem like they're in such a rush (guess they're big time surgeons or whatever) and don't even seem to take much of an interest in my case (e.g. oh, another infection?  Here, take more antibiotics.  Again?  More.  Resistant?  Here's another antibiotic....No, I don't know why you have so many infections, but I really have to go now.)  It has been a really frustrating experience.

Re: The best Urologists

BKGUY, if possible, could you elaborate a little on why you like that doctor?   ANy info would be appreciated.

Yes I was on the old forum. It sounds like you located Dr Wright at Hopkins. His full name is Edward James Wright. Good Luck.   Ben
